Model Euro Bridges, 2002

Seven bridges: styrofoam,
modeling clay, acrylic paint
ca. 12 x 50 x 8 cm each

I originally came up with this project in 1999 during my first longer stay in Europe, but only completed it after the introduction of the common currency in 2002. The bridges depicted on the Euro banknotes do not actually exist. Instead they depict an idealized common European culture that does not refer to specific sites or countries. These seven Model Euro Bridges are an awkward realization of an ideal.
